July 2010 update with HeartSong Horsemanship

It has been sometime since I updated this blogsite. Many things have occurred:
1) Tammy Pate's clinic has been rescheduled for Spring 2011. Her husband became quite ill and she had to reschedule several events. At this time, Curt is doing better. Please keep the Pate family in your prayers!

2) I have taken a fulltime job in the insurance world. It is a first for me to sell insurance, since I have always worked in the medical field providing insurance for patients, financially clearing them ,etc. It is a good job with much to learn! There are two of us in the office, and both of us are horse people! We provide property/casualty, auto, crop, equine mortality/liability, farm and ranch insurance. We wear many hats here at Heartland Insurance Agency, Comanche, TX. Give us a call 325.356.2562

3) Jordan, my blue roan is out on pasture healing w/ a stifle issue. We are trying several different modes of therapy. I think she is happy w/ the break for awhile! She keeps looking at Floyd, the handsome black stud at the ranch(Doc Bar saturated)but I keep telling her no way, not now!

4)We have had two wonderful additions to our human family-my daughter, Miranda had their 3rd child, a boy March 11, 2010. Since the first 2 g-babies had to be taken to neo-natal units, it was awesome to see my daughter's face when the nurse said, you can keep your son in your room with you! She cried tears of joy! I have 7 g-babies now (including my sons 4!)I guess I better get a draft horse to put all the kids on!

Then this past Friday, July 23, Buddy's daughter, had another son-a beautiful baby boy, Hank born! The look of Andi's face when she held her son was priceless. You can check out her website www.2Aphotography.com His big bro' Lane, was all excited along w/ Daddy Craig! Super family!

5)Still teaching/sharing the passion of my love w/horses. Recently held a mini-clinic at McFarland Ranch in Dublin, TX. Kip and her family opens up their place to trail riders, clinics, etc for a fun time w/your horse. Last Sunday we played groundgames and riding games testing your skills and your horses manners. The hanky race, catalgo race, baton, race, Pony Express ride where just a few games. Everyone wants a horse that will STOP, TURN RIGHT OR LEFT,and BACK UP..basic stuff right? These games teach you and horse your all about control, getting two eyes and not two hooves towards you, moving the hindquarters/moving the front quarters, backing up,etc. Had lots of fun despite the heat! Great prizes were given, too! Stay tuned for future Game days w/ you and your horse!

6) I had been offered a scholarship to Parelli Fast track program for the month of August, however, since taking the new fulltime job, I had to decline. It was a hard decision but perhaps the future will provide another opportunity!

7) A huge fundraiser is going to be in November for Michael/Tiffany Richardson. Dates to be announced asap www.brokenrranch.com

Guess that's it for now.....stay in touch. We will be having more clinics in the fall or when the heat breaks.
