Comanche Rodeo Parade-slipped into jeans-n-boots for this one!

July 16, 2011 Comanche Rodeo Parade: Jordan and I were assisted by wonderful friends that day, despite the heat. Mr. Selden Jones drove "our carriage aka the BWT(basic white truck) and I ponied Jordan from the tailgate. Leslie Wilson, Terry Ulstrom, Lisa Amick were the candy throwers! It was a small parade but everyone had a great time, I think. Jordan and I were ready for a nap upon returning home. Next parade is in DeLeone on Aug. 3. We are trying to keep the interest up for our vote in America's Favorite Trail Horse TV show beginning in Sept. 13, 2011 7pm channel 404 DISH network! Jordan and I are on Oct. 4, 2011 at 7pm VOTE FOR #222! Go Jordan!

September 13, 2011 America's Favorite Trail Horse to Air

Well, September is just around the corner and it looks like September 13 will be the first episode. HRTV on DISH network channel 404 will air the show. Negotiations are still in the works for DIRECT TV to pick up the show-we will see. If you have DIRECT TV you can contact ACTHA (www.actha.us) for an online petition. It is so simple even I can do it!

It will run once a week for 13 weeks.

This is a taped show since we did the filming in May at the Franklin Family Ranch. Everyone will be able to call and vote for their favorite rider/horse. We will be shown only once and if we win our episode, we will win $5000.00 and be placed in the top 10. The final top 10 will have their segment run again, and America votes for the top winners. 1st=$25k, 2nd+$15k, 3rd=$10k. This is a big deal!

So mark your calendar and get ready to vote for JORDAN AND MELODY COX #222!

Shoulder Surgery June 22, 2011

An unexpected turn of events for 2011 came in June. I had to have rotator cuff/shoulder separation surgery performed. Thus, not riding or competing at this time. Close friends have heard the actual story but for those new people-here is a the story.

*2005 I was on sitting on my Appaloosa, Dollar at the water tank. He stuck his nose on the electric tape, sending a current into him and down the lead rope. He jumped one way and I went flying the other, landing on right shoulder. Xrays showed "jammed" a little but could manage.

*2007 Putting hay in the barn, and lost balance while bucking a hay bale (yes, just call me grace!) and fell backwards, landing on..yup..you guessed it-right shoulder.
Through chiropractic care, massage therapy, accupuncture I was able to maintain until this year in Feb. Lifted a friend's carry-on bag into the overhead compartment on plane and it slipped back, causing me to catch it, and I felt popping noise in my shoulder.

*4months go by thinking it will heal, etc. but the pain became worse.

*June 22, headed for surgery after MRI confirmend tears in tendons and shoulder seperation.

*It has not been an easy recovery because the biggest "pain' has been from the clavicle being shaved off 5cm-thus "bone pain!" Not fun! Everything is continuing to heal but is a sling for 6 wks, starting therapy soon and overall process will be about 6months.

I think since this started in feb. it is more like a pregnancy-long and drawn out with limitations of NO RIDING!!. I AM however, being careful while doing some groundwork w/ horses (not so much the colts right now), saddle/tack cleaning, grooming lots of horses. and just trying to get well.

*Sleep or lack of has been a problem, too, and being "up" is easier than lying in the recliner. So..i guess that's about enough whining for now and will pull up my boot straps and give it a go!

America's Favorite Trail Horse #222 Jordan and Melody

Seems like it was yesterday when I first began this blog spot, and not sure what I wanted to say. Here is it, 2011 and so many incredible things have occurred that I just don't know where to begin. America's Favorite Trail Horse TV show will air in September 2011 but dates are not known yet. Jordan and I were selected to be in this show back in April 2011. Close to 1,000 trail riders across the US auditioned for a spot on the tv series. The top 100 were selected and filmed in May at Franklin Family Ranch, Blanco, TX.

America will get the opportunity to vote during the tv series. The show will be on HRTV which is channel 404 on DISH network. We are trying to persuade DIRECT TV to pick up the channel, so email/call your local carrier and ask for them to do so!
Every vote will count, and I believe you can call in and/or vote on line. Each winner of the their episode can win an additional $5,000. including being placed in the top 10! Lots of real hard cash to purchase lots of carrots for my girl!

Stay tuned as we gallop towards September.
